667 vs 668: which SIM check do you need?

Learn the difference between the 667 MNP message and a 668 registration-count check before sending an SMS.

Prepared 17 October 2026 · General guidance; check current provider requirements

Use 668 for a CNIC-based registration-count check. This is for sim registration check. The MNP message to 667 is associated with mobile number portability and the SIM from which you send it. Neither should be presented as a public tool for identifying strangers.

What 667 is for

Ufone’s published port-in instructions tell the customer to send MNP to 667 from the line concerned. The reply contains subscriber information used in its porting process. Keep that reply private because it can contain identity details. It covers your phone number details.

Do not forward the response to a salesperson, WhatsApp group or website merely to “verify” your account. If you want to change networks, follow the receiving operator’s current instructions. It is actually SIM check number for Ufone.

What 668 is for

A 668 check helps you review connections registered against your identity. For the full procedure and web alternative, read check SIMs on CNIC.

Before you send either message

Check the sending SIM on a dual-SIM phone. Confirm you can send ordinary SMS and have any required balance. Ask the operator about charges rather than treating either service as automatically free.

Can sending MNP alone complete a transfer?

Treat it as one part of the operator’s process. Read the complete procedure and consent wording before continuing. If you receive a porting request you did not make, contact your operator immediately.
