SIM SAFETY
Dual-SIM safety: organise two numbers clearly
Set clear line labels, choose the correct sending SIM and protect both connections without relying on a supposedly safer SIM slot.
On this page
A dual-SIM phone can help separate work and personal use. The physical slot alone does not establish that a number is safer for banking or account recovery. Your account settings and control of each line matter more.
Label both lines
Use clear labels in device settings and check the default line for calls, SMS and data. Before sending a short-code message, confirm which subscription will send it.
Protect both numbers
Keep identity records and recovery options current for each connection. If one line is rarely used, confirm inactivity terms with that operator. Do not leave important accounts tied to a number you might lose.
If service disappears
Check whether one line or both are affected. A failure on one line may need operator support; a failure on both may point to the handset or local coverage. Unexpected account alerts need urgent attention.
When lending the phone
Remember that both lines may receive private messages and recovery codes. Protect the device with a strong screen lock and avoid sharing access to sensitive apps.
