SIM GUIDES

Manage a Pakistani SIM while overseas

Plan roaming, identity updates and account recovery, and check whether a representative can act on your request.

Prepared 8 October 2026 · General guidance; check current provider requirements

Before travelling, ask your operator how to keep your connection active and how to reach support from abroad. A working number can matter for account recovery, but relying only on SMS creates avoidable risk.

Before departure

Check roaming availability, relevant charges and inactivity terms. Update identity records if needed. Add alternative recovery methods to important accounts where available and keep recovery codes securely.

CNIC, NICOP and document questions

Ask the operator which identity document and verification process it accepts for your situation. Do not assume every online form accepts every document. The registration-count website displays its own available identity options.

Can a relative or attorney help?

Get written confirmation of what a representative can do, the authorisation required and any steps the registered holder must complete personally. A power of attorney should not be assumed to bypass biometric or provider requirements.

If the SIM stops working abroad

Separate roaming problems from account closure or an unexpected replacement. Use no-service troubleshooting and keep records of your contact with support.
